And perhaps for good measure, considering just how soundly Pips is sleeping in her arms right now. His tail flops with the momentum of her steps, the sway of her body creating a gentle lulling motion that allows him to doze on through the roar of spectators and match casters.[break][break]

Though, she does suppose that she should wake him since their next challenger is already taking their place on the other side of the field. In fact, his eyes are already fluttering open, a quiet yawn and a good ol' stretch announcing his return to reality. Yet another kid (for once not someone that she knows) stands opposite them, perhaps watching as the Wooper slowly stumbles his way onto the battlegrounds.[break][break]

Waving to the other girl, she wonders just how far she's gotten in this tournament. Oh well, they're just about to find out, aren't they?

Lucia walked into her next battle, the...actually, she lost count about how many battles she had been in right now. Somewhere in the haze of constant losses and more, the exact number had escaped her. But this next challenger she was going against was quite the surprise!

Another kid just like her! Her expression changed from its usual gloomy demeanor and curled into a smile. Lucia held onto her Dunsparce with both hands while offering a wave at Eris. Hero slithered around her to rest his head on top of hers.

"Hi! I, uh, love your outfit!"

The Dunsparce received a few more strokes of affection from his trainer before making his way all the way down and into the battlefield. He rattled at Eris and her pokemon, ready to get started!

"It's cute! You remind me of some of those character in RPGs."

Lucia said freely. Normally she had been so reserved with adults and things looming over her, putting her on edge. So another girl her age made for the perfect opportunity to drop her guard and feel like a kid again! The pokemon battle was just a bonus, really.

"Oh, this is a Wooper too, right? I have the ones we have in Paldea! He's kind of messy though..."

Hero watched the Wooper with anticipation, wriggling in place while he watched the incoming attack. A TOXIC right off the bat? She was serious! The Dunsparce would pump itself up full of energy and then speed towards the WOoper, using DOUBLE EDGE!

Huh, maybe she didn't like talking during battles? Lucia had worried she came off as annoying to Eris, who seemed to be frazzled at the mid fight conversation that was happening.

"Oh, sorry. I'll shut up..."

The Dunsparce is hit front and center with the TOXIC attack, washing over its body as the normal type hangs in the fight! It watches the Wooper bounce around it. After summoning water around it, the Wooper went for an AQUA TAIL!. Hero countered but lunging towards the water-type with a DRAGON RUSH in some hope it could strike before being swatted away.

On the other hand, Pips will fear no creature, not even gods themselves. When Hero tries to lunge at him, he tilts his head back, meeting the Dunsparce head-on (very literally) by headbutting him with the force of a Power-Up Punch.[break][break]

Hero had not been having the best time with Pip the Wooper. His attacks were all effortlessly blown away by his opponent. Lucia's friendly expression was tested on both the front of Eris not being the most talkative alongside Hero being thrashed in the meanwhile.

"It's fine. Nobody back at Blueberry wanted to talk with me anyway. When you're the worst of your class, you don't really mind it..."

Hero gave one last ditch effort and threw up a DRILL RUN against the Wooper's POWER UP PUNCH.

This is it. Her nerves burned and melded into steel as she narrows her gaze.[break][break]

This time, the Drill Run jabs hard, eliciting a hiss from Pips as he puts his all into slamming the Dunsparce. And when the dust finally settles, the Wooper stands tall and smiles with that same goofy grin.[break][break]

"Nothing's going to change for you if you just accept things the way they are."[break][break]

Is she being harsh? What if she makes this girl cry? She really should try to be nicer, but something about the way that girl talks herself down stings.[break][break]

With arms wide open, she scoops Pips right up and prepares herself to leave.[break][break]

"If you ever decide that you want to try and become stronger, I'll be waiting at the Dewford gym."
